This piece has its origins in a walk I took at the top of Mount Fløyen near Bergen in Norway in the summer of 2004. The rainfall in that part of Norway is very high, giving everything amazing freshness and beauty. Wandering in the mist and the rain, some fragments for string quartet began to form in my mind: this piece knits together some of those ideas. The texture is quite spare, using the beauty of a simple string sound, played without vibrato.
